Paul Johnson


Paul Johnson currently serves as President and CEO of Petrotranz. He is responsible for providing strategic direction and strong leadership for Petrotranz as well as organizational stability and continuity for all their stakeholders and customers in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (“WCSB”).

Paul joined Petrotranz in 2008 as the Director of Client Services. He assumed the role of Vice President in January 2011 and was appointed to President in November 2013. He led Petrotranz through its successful acquisition by the Daily Mail General Trust (“DMGT”) in November 2014 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) in November 2016.

Mr. Johnson brings over 20 years of sales, marketing, technology, business development, client relations and field experience to the organization. Prior to Petrotranz, Paul worked with Zedi Technologies, Kudu Industries, WestJet Airlines and Telus Communications in technological sales, logistical, field and client service roles.

Dallas Smith


Mr. Smith joined Petrotranz in March of 2013 as Director, Technical Solutions. His initial key responsibility was to ensure successful adoption and deployment our newest system; the Petrotranz Data Exchange (PDX). In 2014, Dallas became Vice President, Operations. This brought on a more expanded role requiring his involvement in strategic planning, success of daily operations through customer support, technical integrations and overall infrastructure stability.

Following the successful close of the Daily Mail General Trust’s (“DMGT”) acquisition of Petrotranz, Mr. Smith was further promoted and assumed the role of COO in November 2016. Dallas has been instrumental in driving profitability and efficiency throughout the organization.

Now responsible for all the daily operations in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (“WCSB”), Dallas Smith oversees a diverse and growing team encompassing marketing, customer engagement, business development, product innovation and development, human resources and communications. Mr. Smith is focused on continuing to strengthen the organizations presence across the region while ensuring fiscal responsibility from the top down. Delivering an extremely elevated level of customer experience excellence consistently, is something Mr. Smith is passionate about. “The simple desire to make people happy and leave them with a sense of satisfaction, is one of the most important attributes of a Petrotranz team member,” he says.

Over the last 25 years, Mr. Smith has demonstrated a very strong and proven track record of success. Dallas' drive to always over-deliver on the customers' needs has proven to be a valued asset in his past roles with such organizations as NeoSystems, Zedi Technolgies, and Pengrowth. Dallas also took his own dot-com venture to large scale success in 2001-2003 as co-founder and Vice President of Technology.

Richard Weston


As a co-founder of Petrotranz, Mr. Weston has served as the organizations Chief Financial Officer since its inception in 2007. Mr. Weston is an operational leader with an eye for detail. Responsible for the companies Financial, HR and Legal operations, he has a proven track record of building and improving a company’s business processes, policies and management reporting systems to attain efficient and effective operations and real-time reporting. In addition to his CFO duties, Mr. Weston is the primary representative for fulfilling the obligations for the Crude Oil Logistics Committee (“COLC”) and Industry Technical Committee (“ITC”).

Previously and during the early years of Petrotranz, Mr. Weston contracted himself out as a “CFO for Hire” for start up companies, assisting them with building their Admin, Finance, HR and Legal processes to a point where either a full time CFO was required or a successful exit was achieved. He has been involved in taking 5 companies to successful exits as well as taking another 5 companies to a point where a full time CFO was required.
