Industry Veteran Ron Gagnon joins Petrotranz as President
CALGARY, AB, Canada (June 5, 2008) - Petrotranz Inc., announced today that Ron H. Gagnon will be joining the company as its President. Ron will be responsible for overseeing the marketing and implementation of Petrotranz Inc.’s Crude Oil Transportation System (COTS). COTS is the first secure, easy-to-use, web-based communication and collaboration platform that streamlines the manual processes and documentation required in the transportation of crude oil from wellhead to market.
“We are extremely pleased to have Ron join Petrotranz as President”, says Brent Stankowski, CEO Petrotranz. “We have come to know Ron not only as an industry leader in crude oil marketing and transportation, but also as a man of very high integrity and standards.”
In 2005, Ron Gagnon retired from Plains Midstream Canada (Plains), previously CANPET Energy Group Inc. (CANPET), after holding a variety of executive-level positions including Managing Director of: Crude Services, Information Services and Transportation Services and finally as Vice President of Operations. An engineering graduate from the University of Saskatchewan, Ron started his career with Saskatchewan Energy and Mines, whereby in his role as Manager of Crude Oil Market Analysis he began dealing with CANPET, a rapidly growing energy trading company. As a result of mutual respect Ron joined CANPET in 1987. CANPET experienced spectacular growth through the 1990's culminating in an acquisition by Plains All American Pipeline in 2001 to form Plains Marketing Canada, L.P. Throughout his career with CANPET and then Plains, Ron continued to take on additional responsibility and provided leadership through his industry expertise combined with a direct common sense approach to doing business.
“I am very pleased and excited to accept the President’s role at Petrotranz after having been involved with the company and its management team in an advisory role. I truly believe Petrotranz has a unique and compelling value proposition to crude oil companies, and I look forward to helping Petrotranz expand its leadership role in providing solutions to the industry,” said Gagnon.
Kevin Hein, Petrotranz COO, added, “Ron is a class act, respected by his peers and colleagues, he has assisted our organization in building a world-class offering for crude oil companies. This is a big win for Petrotranz, Inc.”
